A Letter To My Lady Fair

Have you noticed how the times do change
And blot out love's resplendence?
What used to be called "chivalry"
Is now called "co-dependence."

Chivalry has not yet died,
We only changed its name.
We slander those who practice it;
We've stripped it of its fame.

Knights once protected ladies fair
From every kind of harm.
Now, we see a gentle man
And sound out our alarm.

We call him, "sissy," "fag," and "queer."
What insults do we heap
Upon the heads of knights today?
How can we even sleep?

If time could be turned back again
And Camelot were here,
My love, I'd be your Lancelot,
And you, my Guinevere.

And I would slay all dragons who
Put fear into your heart,
And face down every wicked curse
And break the wizard's art.

With fires of love, I'd warm the chill
That makes the night wind cold
And win your heart, my lady fair,
Your knight, Sir Mark the Bold.
