A blazing fire warms the house.
The Christmas candles glow.
Holly decks the mantlepiece
And memories overflow.
Voices fill the air with songs,
And joy fills all our hearts.
Momma's in the kitchen
Baking bread and pumpkin tarts.
Children, now, can barely sleep
All snuggled in their beds,
Because of all the wondrous thoughts
That dance and fill their heads.
They dream of gifts on Christmas morn.
They think of Santa's sleigh.
They almost hear his merry laugh
First thing on Christmas day.
When I think of Christmas,
It's much more I'm thinking of;
A night when God, so long ago,
Showed us His greatest love.
