The Eagle's Gift.
Many years ago I lost my wings.
But now, behold, I have those precious things.
I flew last night, and what a joy! I saw
My soul set free from that ungodly law
Which said so long ago I couldn't fly.
And now, at last, I know it for a lie.
I flew to where creative gifts are kept
And basked in Heaven's glory while I slept.
And as the dawn immersed my room in light
I opened up my eyes, and all was right.
Now, when I feel the urge to touch the sky
I just unfurl my wings, and I can fly
To where God's gifts are kept in store for me;
And once again, my spirit is set free.
All I need do is open up the door,
And lift my eyes, and spread my wings, and soar.
